Acupuncture

therapeutic

Acupuncture is a treatment modality used to relieve or treat various physical, psychological, or emotional disorders. Originating from traditional Chinese medicine, this approach involves stimulating specific points on the body with fine needles to restore energy balance, promote circulation, activate natural self-healing mechanisms, reduce pain, and prevent recurrence of injuries. Practiced for thousands of years, acupuncture continues to be integrated into complementary and preventative health approaches today. Each treatment is personalized to your condition, using a gentle, targeted, and safe approach.

How does a session take place?

The first consultation includes a comprehensive assessment of your health based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine. This assessment includes a detailed interview, tongue examination, and pulse measurement. All of these elements help determine a personalized treatment plan.

During follow-ups, each appointment begins with a brief discussion about your current condition. We review what has improved, what has remained stable, and any potential new symptoms. This assessment allows us to adjust the treatment at each session, taking into account your overall progress. In cases of chronic or established disorders, a protocol of several closely spaced sessions may be recommended at the beginning of treatment, before gradually spacing them out depending on the progress and specific needs of each individual. In addition, other tools may be incorporated as needed: cupping, electroacupuncture, infrared electromagnetic lamp, moxibustion (moxa), and lifestyle advice based on Chinese medicine.

What do you feel during a session?

Most patients report a deep sense of relaxation during treatment, sometimes accompanied by a slight tingling sensation or a diffuse warmth around the insertion points. Very often, the nervous system shifts into a state of parasympathetic relaxation, conducive to restorative rest.

For example, when treatments are geared toward pain relief and nervous system relaxation, they promote the release of endorphins—natural substances that reduce the perception of pain while inducing a sense of calm. By acting on the central nervous system, these endorphins encourage a state of general relaxation, reduce nervous tension, and, through reflex action, reduce involuntary or persistent muscle contractions.

Thus, their release not only helps calm the mind but also relax tense muscles, particularly in states of stress or pain.
